Karachi Pakistan : The Sri Lanka Consulate General in Karachi, Pakistan, in collaboration with the Sri Lankan community, hosted the 78th National Day Celebration on 4th February 2026 at the premises of Consulate General of Sri Lanka, together a significant number of Sri Lankans and esteemed Pakistani dignitaries.
The formal ceremony commenced with the hoisting of the Sri Lankan national flag by the Consul General, Mr. Sanjeewa Pattiwila, followed by the singing of the national anthem and the lightning of the traditional oil lamp.
Multi-faith religious observances conducted and the Independence day messages of HE President, Hon. Prime Minister and Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment & Tourism were read at the ceremony.
Attendees were also treated to a delightful selection of traditional Sri Lankan cuisine, offering a taste of the island’s rich culinary heritage.
A blood donation campaign was held for the support of Afzaal Memorial Thalassemia Foundation, in Karachi.
