Security in Agham Kot Should Be Increased from 24th to 26th Rajab

KARACHI : In Agham Kot, located in the Matli subdivision of Badin district, immediate action has been requested against known disruptive elements who are actively causing problems for devotees visiting the holy shrine of Bibi Maham Khadija, daughter of Imam Musa Kazim (AS), known locally as “Madina Wali Pak Bibi.” The request, submitted by the Zaireen Khidmat Committee, Religious Affairs Committee Dargah Masooma-e-Sindh Agham Kot, and Karachi Editors Club, urges the IG Police Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon to take decisive measures to address these security concerns and restore a sense of safety for visitors.
The Application states that this sacred site has long been a center of devotion for generations of followers of the Holy Prophet’s family (PBUH), drawing pilgrims from across the country. However, recent incidents have compromised the sanctity of the shrine and threatened public order.
The petition mentions harassment by former custodians of the Makhdoom Ismail Soomro shrine, Ghulam Rasool Qureshi, and Ghulam Mustafa Qureshi. These individuals initially managed both shrines together but created hurdles for devotees through intimidation. Eventually, following interventions by the district administration of Badin, shrine management was transferred to the Sindh Auqaf Department, temporarily restoring peace. Unfortunately, the same individuals, along with Muhammad Ashraf Laghari, Zafar Shahani, and others, have resumed their disruptive activities.
According to the petition, these individuals desecrated the Holy Quran by tearing pages and scattering them in the graveyard while falsely accusing Auqaf staff. Investigations confirmed their guilt. After failing in this plot, they removed a wooden pulpit from the mosque, but local peace advocates thwarted their plans. Additionally, they have held protest rallies from Gulab Laghari to Agham Kot, raising provocative slogans to intimidate pilgrims, disrupting religious practices and the flow of visitors from all over the country.
Further, the petition details their attempts to misrepresent themselves as representatives of the “Jeay Sindh” organization, distributing fake pamphlets and creating a counterfeit social media identity under “Gulab Laghari Press Club” to spread negative propaganda. The legitimate leadership of Gulab Laghari Press Club condemned these actions and called for a high-level investigation.
The applicants opined that failure to curb these acts could lead to severe religious unrest. They have urged the IG Police Sindh to take immediate legal action to prevent further disturbances and ensure the safety and security of devotees.
The request emphasizes the need for enhanced security from 24th to 26th Rajab, when thousands of devotees commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Musa Kazim (AS) with mourning ceremonies at Agham Kot. The petitioners expressed hope that IG Police Sindh will prioritize this matter and ensure a peaceful and respectful atmosphere at the sacred shrine.
