This important project was completed with the financial support of Global Environment Facility (GEF) and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) implemented in cooperation with Pakistan Tanners Association Southern (Zone Environmental Society) MOCC and (PTA) (SZ)- ES (The Chief Guest, Secretary Ministry of Climate Change (MoCC) and Environmental Coordination Ayesha Humira Moryani) invited private sector partners, especially PTA (S)-ES. He said while appreciating the efforts He said that the industries of any country are the backbone of the economy. The use of solar energy will help in controlling load shedding of electricity to a great extent which will also increase the efficiency of the leather industry, he said, referring to Pakistan’s commitment to reduce carbon emissions under COP29.

Highlighting the nation’s efforts and commending UNIDO-GEF’s Machinery Solar Power Solutions and Solid Waste Management initiatives for moving the sector towards sustainable and environment-friendly practices, Project Director, UNIDO President, PTA on the occasion (SZ)- ES Gulzar Feroze said that to develop Pakistan’s leather industry Using solar energy will prove to be a revolutionary step through which problems like rising electricity costs and load shedding can be solved This will enable factories to continue production continuously while at the same time, solar energy will not only reduce costs but will also have a positive impact on the environment as it is a clean and green source of energy, he said. Water purification and other energy-intensive steps in leather processing can be molanized using which will make the industry more competitive and in line with international standards. Complete elimination of load shedding of electricity from industrial areas is very important to bring about a revolution. Highlighting the achievements, he said Under this project, a 640 KW solar power system has been installed to improve the energy efficiency of the CETP plant, while a world-class testing laboratory has also been set up which will set new standards of quality and environmental requirements in the industry. On the occasion of the event, Member UNIDO Coordinating Committee Kamran Habib said that Pakistan’s leather industry can be improved through solar energy as it is the best source of cheap, sustainable and environment-friendly electricity. is the source
