According to the report: A mighty 14 storey cruise ship will now be sold in junk as there is not enough space to park the beautiful cruise at the country’s biggest port in Karachi.
The cruise’s new owner, Ahmadullah Khan, said he made efforts for the ship to provide recreation as he planned to turn it into a hotel or cruise to promote tourism. However, Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) and other authorities could not allocate space for the cruise ship in the largest port of the country.
The 56,800 gross-ton cruise ship, introduced in 1992, was built by the Italian shipbuilder. A Pakistani company, New Choice Enterprises, bought it for ship breaking but after finding the ship in a “good condition” they have decided to transform it into a hotel or cruise.
According to a report, the cruise ship underwent a significant modernization and overhaul in 2011 as part of a life extension program designed to update the ship. The 14 storey cruise ship has the following features. It has 1,411 rooms, seven star hotel, Shopping mall, Gaming zone, Swimming pool and three conference halls.
Hence, the ship, Celestyal Experience, formerly known as Costa Romantica, has been taken to the Gadani ship breaking yard to be dismantled.
